iLogos Ex-CEO Announced The Creation Of A Hub For Indie Developers

Ex-CEO of iLogos and the organizer of the conference for game developers Get IT! Elena Lobova announced her plans to create a hub to support independent developers.

Since 2011, Elena managed the game development outsourcing company iLogos that grew almost tenfold within this period. The company worked with such giants as Electronic Arts, Rovio, Gameforge and others. While talking with the gaming industry leaders from all around the world, Elena wondered why there is not as many successful production studios with world known hits in Eastern Europe as in the West. After all, there is undoubtedly a huge concentration of talented developers in Eastern European countries.

“When I talk to our developers and major publishers, I realize that there are a lot of talented teams with promising projects, but most of them lack business strategy. Not many of them have worked with Western publishers and tried to understand their mentality. In most cases, developers say that they need funding, but in fact they first need to make their projects attractive to publishers and investors. Even if they don’t plan to work with the publisher, when it comes to attracting a marketing budget, they need to understand where and how to do it. Developers lack the tools, strategy, contacts and skills to give their projects a great future,” says Elena.

Striving to help talented game creators resulted into the idea of ACHIEVERS HUB. The Hub will select promising projects and provide the teams with business advice, marketing advice, professional services (eg, legal, recruiting), representation in front of investors and publishers, assistance in pitching, negotiation, personal development of teams members as well as product advice from industry leaders from around the world involved as mentors.

“More than 20 mentors with different backgrounds and long-term experience in game development have already agreed to participate in the project, several large publishers and investors have joined the community, the work with three indie teams is in progress. Early next year we will start scouting for the new teams,” announced Elena.

The organizers of the Hub believe that this initiative will help create a friendly atmosphere for indies in the region, encourage entrepreneurship among developers and increase the total number of successful products in the industry.
