In-Depth AI Program to Debut at NG20

An exciting new speaker program dedicated to artificial intelligence will make its debut at Nordic Game 2020, 27-29 May in Malmö, Sweden.

The event will tell you about modern AI techniques in game design, development and production, and feature speakers from selected studios taking an ambitious approach to AI in games.

The AI program will kick-off on Wednesday, 27 May and speaker sessions will include:

Bots That Play Like Human Players

Christoffer Holmgård, CEO/co-founder, modl.ai

How do you make bots play like humans in ways where you can control skill, difficulty and style? Christoffer will cover how to use human-like bots that learn from designer input and player behavior as NPCs to compete against, but also for automated game QA, play-testing and balancing.

Player Insights from Gameplay to Experience

Alessandro Canossa, Senior User Researcher, Ubisoft Massive/Associate Professor, KADK

How do you know what motivates your players? Alessandro will explain how he and his team found ways to predict player motivations in Tom Clancy’s The Division solely based on gameplay behavior, a limited pool of player questionnaire responses and preference learning.

On Thursday, 28 May, the modl.ai team will also host a group of leading AI/ML experts in a special workshop at NG20; taking questions, consulting and brainstorming about the use of AI and ML for bots, bot detection, player insights and procedural content generation.
