Valve officially revealed Index, its new £919 top-notch virtual reality PC hardware. The preorder starts on May 1, 2019.
Valve, the developer of the software distribution platform Steam, introduced the headset this Tuesday. If you’re familiar with HTC Vive setup, it’s almost the same here. In fact, even the store page says that Index supports Vive and Vive Pro gear meaning that you can use new equipment with headsets, controllers, or base stations you already own.
The full setup includes the headset, two Index controllers, and two base stations and costs $999 USD.
The Index headset and controllers cost $749 USD as a bundle, while a headset costs $499 USD on its own, and controllers cost $279 USD, and a single base station has the price of $150.
Just to compare, Facebook’s Oculus Rift S will cost $399 USD when it launches on May 21st.
