Irrational & Naughty Dog Art Director goes Underworld

Famous art director Nate Wells, who previously worked at LookingGlass, Irrational, Naughty Dog and Crystal Dynamics has moved to OtherSide Entertainment to work on Underworld Ascendant.

Nate Wells is the kind of person, who switches jobs often. And when he does, he usually ends up in the headlines. Having worked in some of the most interesting studios in gamedev (Irrational, Naughty Dog, Crystal Dynamics, Crystal Dynamics, Looking Glass) he found himself a new awesome job – OtherSide Entertainment.

This is a small new company, formed by the creators of Ultima Underworld. Right now this company is working on Ultima’s spiritual successor – Underworld Ascendant. Wells will most likely oversee this project.

I’m thrilled to be working with Nate again. Nate showed huge promise at LookingGlass early in his career, and it’s wonderful to see how he has grown into a supremely talented art director.

Underworld Ascendant is a next-generation sequel to the legendary fantasy RPG’s Ultima Underworld & Ultima Underworld 2. It not only modernizes the series’ visuals and user interface to take full advantage of the today’s powerful PC’s, it innovates in bold new ways. The game features an Improvisation Engine, which gives players a whole bunch of tools to solve various game problems. You’re going to experiment, unlock new ways of playing your game. Very cool stuff!

Underworld Ascendant is going to launch into pre-alpha early 2016.
