Jungle Cruise VFX Breakdown

Weta Digital showed the work with visual effects in Jungle Cruise.

Weta Digital released a VFX breakdown of Disney’s Jungle Cruise. According to the company, their contribution primarily focused on creating environments – CG Amazon River, with mist, waterfalls, and rapids – and the creatures that populate the jungle.

"We created and hand-animated Frank’s ever-loyal, and fully CG, pet jaguar Proxima, and crafted motion vignettes for the abundance of birds, bugs and monkeys that call the jungle home."

Jungle Cruise is a 2021 fantasy adventure film based on Disneyland's theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles. The ride is enhanced by the cast members (or "skippers") who pilot the boats and deliver corny jokes.

The movie tells the story of Dr. Lily Houghton (played by Lily Houghton) who, in search of an ancient tree that holds the power to heal, enlists the aid of a skipper Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson) to take her down the Amazon in his boat.
