Thomas Bittner shared some exciting updates to his custom framework for rigging in Maya.
In his latest post, Thomas Bittner showcased a new Eyelid Zipper integrated into Kangaroo-Builder's Face Rig template and asked fellow animators for feedback on whether this could be practically beneficial in production.
Although this feature could be more useful for the mouth, there are some other nice updates to Kangaroo-Builder since we last reviewed its long-awaited Maya to Unreal Engine Control Rig converter.
The converter has undergone some improvements on Double Knees, Twist Joints, and FK/IK Snapping, and received Bendy Limbs to Human Arm/Leg, Proxy Controls to Fingers, and plenty of bug fixes.
Additionally, the Skinning tools have been updated, and you can watch Thomas Bittner's extensive new tutorial on this subject below:
"Bind to Closest & Expand gives you clean Skin Weights on joint loops, like around the mouth or eyelids. It works great if you have a joint for each vertex, but lately, I've improved it for cases where you have joints for each second or third vertex. Or actual 2D joint grids", commented the developer.
