Ken Levine Talks Irrational Games, BioShock & The Future

The creator of BioShock answered questions about its origins, influences, and the truth behind the BioShock movie.

Arcade Attack interviewed Ken Levine, a creative director and co-founder of Ghost Story Games (previously Irrational Games) that stood behind the famous BioShock games. He is also known for his work on Thief: The Dark Project and System Shock 2.

In the interview, Levine talks about his failed screenplay career, how everything at Irrational Games started with System Shock 2, how BioShock Infinite negatively impacted his health, how he came up with the idea of Rapture, his inspirations for the game, what he’s up to at Ghost Story Games, and more.

BioShock is a retrofuturistic video game series that combines first-person shooter and role-playing elements. There are 3 games in the series: BioShock (2007), BioShock 2 (2010), and BioShock Infinite (2013). As Irrational Games got rebranded and is now working on smaller titles, the next BioShock game is being developed by Cloud Chamber.
