Manticore Games revealed that it is launching a new game creator economy and a starting $1 million pilot program for creators to earn a living by creating games on Core, its free platform.
Core mixes a radically accessible and powerful game creation, plus publishing options for artists to generate game worlds. The platform is available for free now in Open Alpha.
"We’ve been in Alpha for just four months and have been overwhelmed by the response and rapid growth of our creator community," wrote the team. "We’ve reached the point that great new games launch every day. New creators are making beautiful games in very little time."
The new Creator Payouts Pilot Program means one thing: the more people play your game, the more you get paid. The team announced that each calendar month, creators participating can receive $3 per average daily player. The project will calculate the amount of money by taking the daily number of unique users who log into games and averaging them across that month.
"This means that if you have 500 unique users log into your games every day (they do not need to be the same players) you could receive $1,500 after the end of the month," added the team. |If you average 1,000 users, you could receive $3,000. If you average 10,000 … you get the idea."
