Microsoft is readying for its next big acquisition. A new report from KitGuru leads us to believe that the software company wants to aquire chip manufacturer AMD. Talks have already started.

Microsoft is readying for its next big acquisition. A new report from KitGuru leads us to believe that the software company wants to acquire chip manufacturer AMD. Talks have already started.

KitGuru believes that talks began a few months ago. The price of the acquisition is yet unknown, but we must be talking about billions of dollars. KitGuru estimates AMD’s value at $1.81 billion. It’s pretty affordable for Microsoft which still has $95,3 billion in cash.

AMD is a very famous chip producer. The company manufactures computer processors & GPUs, server processors. Its main products are system-on-chips that power Xbox One and PlayStation 4. If Microsoft really buys AMD, then it will definitely save a lot of money on future consoles. Plus it will hurt Sony with the upcoming PlayStation 5. Usually console manufacturers pay AMD about $100 on each console!

Apart from Microsoft Korean companу Samsung is also interested in buying AMD.
