NetherRealm: Next Game Announcement Won't Happen Until After Mortal Kombat's 30-Year Anniversary

The announcement will happen "in due time."

The latest game in the Mortal Kombat series was released in 2019, so naturally, fans are excited to hear about what NetherRealm Studios has in store for them next. However, they'll have to wait for a bit.

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon said that there will be no new game announcement from NetherRealm until after the game's 30-year anniversary. "It will happen in due time," Boon shared on Twitter, but first the company will celebrate and focus on Mortal Kombat's birthday.

The first game in the series of fighters was released for arcades on October 8, 1992. While the anniversary is a few days away, take a trip down memory lane and check out the first sketch of the game's iconic dragon logo.
