"New Vegas 2" Files in Fallout 4 Update Start Rumors of Sequel
The content was promptly removed.
On April 4, a bunch of depots called "newvegas2" were added to the Fallout 4 Steam update. The next day, they were removed, but the records still exist on SteamDB and in fans' hearts. Could there be a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas? No one really knows, but this fueled a lot of rumors.
Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb said that Obsidian Entertainment was discussing New Vegas 2 with Microsoft; many developers are also in favor of creating the new game. However, a couple of files in Fallout 4 can't confirm this is going to happen.
Last year, Bethesda announced that the next-gen update for Fallout 4 would be released in 2023. So it is probably more plausible that the "newvegas2" files are just some New Vegas-themed content for it or Creation Club stuff.
