Newzoo analysts predict that the Brazilian game market will reach $2.7 billion by the end of the year. The number of players in the country is also set to increase reaching 101 million.
Newzoo has released a new report offering insights into the Brazilian game market. According to the report, Brazil is already the fifth largest gaming market by the number of players in the world and the fastest-growing market in Latin America. And, as the research firm anticipates, it will keep growing reaching 101 million players by the end of 2022.
The gaming revenue in the country will increase as well – the analysts predict that it will amount to $2.7 billion in 2022 so that Brazil will become the world's 10th largest market by revenue.
The report reads that the vast majority of Brazilians are game enthusiasts – 80% of the country's population engages with gaming through playing, viewing, owning, or social behavior. 77% of them are active gamers, 54% watch gaming content, and 33% are involved in other forms of gaming engagement, like visiting online gaming communities, discussing video games with family and friends, listening to gaming podcasts, and attending large in-person gaming conventions.
The share of male and female players in the country is nearly identical – women make up about 49% of all gamers in the region, and 51% of the country's gamers are men. Less than 1% of gamers in the country are non-binary/other people. The majority of Brazilian players are aged between 21 and 35 (43%). This group is followed by the age segments 10-20 (28%), 36-50 (23%), and 51-65 (6%).
Over the past six months, the majority of the region's gamers have played games on mobile devices (60%). 31% played games on consoles, and 30% – on PC. However, PC and console players spend more time playing games than mobile players (5 hours 12 minutes on average versus 4 hours 31 minutes).
Fortnite, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and GTA V are the leaders in terms of MAU in Brazil. As for the leaders by genre, shooters are in the first place, followed by adventure titles and sports games.
