Nier: Automata Ships Over 1 Million Copies

The recent collaboration between Square Enix and Platinum Games paves way for a bright future of the franchise.

Square Enix reported that Platinum Games’ action-RPG Nier: Automata shipped over 1 million copies worldwide. This includes both retail boxes and digital sales. Not bad for a game, which was on sale for less than a month and a half. The project first launched on PlayStation 4 in Japan, and moved to PC in March 2017.

Contrary to most Japanese developers, Platinum Games actually published a lot about the development of the project. We’ve covered some of that process, but you can find more info on the official blog. Recently character modeller Hito Matsudaira published a nice breakdown of the character development process on PlayStation Blog. It’s a fascinated read.

The games title character D2 is portrayed in a very revealing outfit, which surprisingly didn’t get a lot of hate. Instead, the community was really pleased with the design, as well as with the general feel of the game, combining different genres.

If you haven’t bought it yet – it’s about time to do so.
