No Man’s Sky Got a Major Update

The update changes the combat system, weapons, and enemies and brings Steam Deck support.

No Man’s Sky got a major update – Sentinel – that brings an overhaul of the combat systems and enemies. It gives you access to new weapons, like the charged energy shotgun, active camo, and the new stun grenade.

The enemies are now more dangerous. They have new classes: Heavies, Summoners, Medics, and an Exo-Mech. Sentinels now also deploy new weaponry and utilize protective shields. The update added the locations of sentinel “nests” and rewards for raiding them.

If you've ever been curious about Sentinels and how they came to be, you're in luck as you can now learn their lore from the update. You can also reprogram and adopt your very own friendly AI drone.

As for the weapons, all Multi-Tool systems received a significant visual overhaul, benefiting from new projectiles and beams, muzzle flashes, lighting effects, refraction, new impacts, and more.

The reworked combat system offers the ability to add stun or incineration effects to your weapons, to set up your Multi-Tool to deal extra damage to targets you’ve previously tagged, or use the new Cloaking Device to vanish and gain the strategic upper hand.

The game now supports AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, which will improve the image quality and performance.

Moreover, the game also supports Steam Deck and has been specially optimized for it.

And if you're a lucky owner of a compatible RTX card, you can now take advantage of NVIDIA’s DLAA technology, producing an image of the highest visual fidelity.
