In two days Pixar is going to announce a new version of the software, which basically be free for anyone.

RenderMan is one of the most adored animation software for CGI enthusiasts. Currently, the software is available as a professional package for almost $600. However, most recently the official site of the software was updated with this message.

It’s not clear how the new license will be different from the current free offering. As you know you can apply for a ‘free to try’ version of the software on the official website. This is a full non-restricted software, there’s also no watermarks. All you need to do is use the “rendered with RenderMan” logo in your credits. So we’ll need to wait a couple more days to learn all the details. Meanwhile you can check out RenderMan 22 and all its new features.
