Panels: Create A Comic Using Grease Pencil In Blender

Paul Caggegi, Instructor at CG Cookie, has revealed a tutorial that introduces Grease Pencil and new techniques for creating comics.

This course uses the CG Cookie Eat Sheep project as its inspiration to create a comic around some of the main characters in the first-ever release of Eat Sheep Adventure. The course will introduce the creatives to Grease Pencil and will uncover the main techniques for creating a custom Start Up File. The mentor will explain how to create a reusable template and custom brushes. The final result will be a ready-for-print cover.

The course goes with CG Cookie comic templates for Standard US, Manga, and European-style comics, custom drafting brushes, a 2D illustration Start Up File, and a final version of the comic, prepared by the team.

The mentor shares that in this course the creatives will learn how to:
  • Set up a template
  • Thumbnail from a script
  • Add refined pencils
  • Add inking
  • Color flatting
  • Add shading and textures
  • Add lettering
  • Set up renders for print
