This feat makes the console the fastest-selling PlayStation.
According to the provider of data and analytics to the consumer goods industry GfK's new data published by GI.biz, PlayStation 5 has surpassed one million sales in the UK back in August, thus becoming the fastest-selling console in UK history, surpassing its older sibling PS4 by 3 weeks. It took the console only 39 weeks to reach this milestone. Up until July, PS4 was still trending ahead of PS5 in the UK, according to GI’s GfK data, but that switched around as more PS5 stock came into the market in August.
Globally, PS5 hit the 10 million sales milestone on July 18, about eight months after its launch on November 12, 2020, which is just under a month quicker than the PS4 managed following its November 2013 launch.
