PlayStation Celebrates 25 Years of Play

The PlayStation team shared a special message from Jim Ryan who elaborated on the 25 years of entertainment.

The very first PlayStation made its global debut in Japan on December 3, 1994. Ken Kutaragi and the team delivered wanted to make video games a universal form of entertainment for everyone to enjoy. The original console sold 100,000 units in Japan and then became the first-ever home console to reach the number of 100 million units sold globally.

"We struck a chord with the gaming community because PlayStation offered experiences beyond what anyone could ever imagine was possible with a home console," wrote Jim Ryan. "From the very start, we opened our arms to developers, providing them with the tools and technology to create beautiful, expansive worlds, and to experiment with new ideas. That approach led to the diversity of games PlayStation is known for, a true hallmark for our brand across multiple generations of hardware platforms."

PlayStation 5 is just around the corner, and we're pretty excited about the future of the legendary franchise. You can find the full message here. Share your favorite PlayStation moments in the comments.
