PlayStation Is Seeking an Engineer to Fix Bugs in Classic Games & Develop New Emulators

Here's a nice chance to work on the Tools and Technology team at PlayStation.

The PlayStation team is now seeking Software Development Engineer to work on the Tools and Technology team at PlayStation Studios and support the newly relaunched "Classics" for PS4 and PS5. An ideal candidate "would work closely with a group of other engineers, producers, and QA teams to fix bugs, add new features, and develop new emulators."

It appears the engineer will a part of the new Preservation team we mentioned a couple of months ago. It was reported that the team is meant to ensure that PlayStation classics are accessible and available on the various consoles. In case you missed the news, PlayStation Plus now has a new Premium tier that features a selection of classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PSP generations.

Requirements: 

  • Expert knowledge of C/C++ (10+ yrs as a guideline)
  • Experience developing cross-platform software for Games Consoles and Desktop PCs
  • Preference for carving out automated solutions that scale to thousands of similar products
  • Excellent online communication skills - expert at Slack, remote presentation, constructive code reviews
  • Experience being your own self-service IT

Nice to have:

  • Git source control and the Pull Requests / Code Review workflow
  • Hands-on experience with AA or AAA game development for PlayStation Consoles
  • Bash scripting experience
  • Lua/C++ interoperability experience
  • MIPS RISC Assembly experience
