PlayStation’s Talent Acquisition Lead Fiona Cherbak Joins The Xbox Team

In order to get the best specialists for their new first-party studios, Microsoft decided to hire Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Talent Acquisition Lead.

Microsoft has recently doubled the number of its first-party studios by acquiring developers like Double Fine Productions, Ninja Theory, inXile Entertainment, and Obsidian Entertainment. In order to get the best specialists for these teams, Microsoft decided to hire Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Talent Acquisition Lead.

LinkedIn states Fiona Cherbak worked for Sony from 2015 to 2019 and got a new role as Talent Acquisition Lead at Xbox Game Studios a day ago. Previously, she helped manage roles for Sony Interactive Entertainment, Gameloft, Irrational Games, Tencent, and Certain Affinity; agency work for Activision, Electronic Arts, Sony, Disney, Eidos, KingsIsle Entertainment, Portalarium, gumi, and Stoic Studio. One of the biggest things here is that Cherbak was responsible for getting Sony Santa Monica people who made God of War.

Some other details from her LinkedIn page:

Co-founder of Boston Festival of Indie Games. Former Chair of IGDA Women in Games SIG, and co-founder of Women in Games International. Prior advisor for SXSW Screenburn, SIGGRAPH (Austin), Fantastic Fest/Fantastic Arcade, European Women in Games Conference and Women in Games Jobs. Regular speaker on hiring and retaining women in games at PAX and GDC events. Invited to Obama’s White House in 2015 to participate in women in games roundtable.

She is now a part of The Initiative, a studio tasked with creating God of War-like experiences. Hopefully, Xbox One, “Project Scarlett,” and Windows 10 will get high-quality games. Congrats to Microsoft!
