PUBG Devs Sue Apple and Google over the PUBG Lookalike Free Fire

Krafton, the developer of PUBG: Battleground, has accused Free Fire's developers of alleged copyright violations along with Apple and Google for distributing the game.

PUBG: Battleground's developer Krafton is suing multiple companies including Apple, Google, YouTube, and free-to-play game company Garena for alleged copyright violations. According to Krafton, Apple and Google distributed a "blatantly infringing mobile version of Battlegrounds" developed by Garena on Google Play and App Store.

Krafton accuses Garena of copying "numerous aspects" of PUBG in its games Free Fire and Free Fire: Max, including "copyrighted unique game opening 'air drop' feature" and a "combination and selection of weapons, armor, and unique objects, locations, and the overall choice of color schemes, materials, and textures".

According to the lawsuit, Garena launched Free Fire in Singapore in 2017, soon after the PUBG release which appeared to lead to a complaint and settlement. Although the settlement did not comprise of licensing deal or permission to distribute the game, Free Fire games were released on Apple and Google's mobile app stores.

Krafton claimed that Garena has earned “hundreds of millions of dollars” from sales in the apps and in-app purchases while Apple and Google have “similarly earned a substantial amount of revenue from their distribution of Free Fire.”

The company has also accused Google's YouTube of hosting videos featuring the gameplay of Garena's battle royales and the Chinese feature film called Biubiubiu which Krafton claims is "nothing more than a blatantly infringing live-action dramatization of Battlegrounds.”

Currently, the lawsuit states that YouTube has failed to remove the posts as well as Apple and Google refused to stop distributing the game through their app stores. Therefore, Krafton is turning to the courts to resolve the matter.

Yah, PUBG just crazy asH, so it should be the only 1 with airdrop n no other hand should a player jump out of a plane, this is the same thing as a phone company making a 6 camera phone n putting copyright on it, lyk WtH, so no other company should make 6 cameras also, nonsense is wat pubg is, they c that ppl like free fire n they wanna take that away, even if they were 2 win n freefire is taken down 70% of us won't even bother play a game which destroyed our favourite game🤦🏾‍♂️, if money is what pubg want, they should buy some of ff shares n earn n stop this bullshxt which they won't win.😪

This is mildly confusing to me... so noone else can make a battleroyale game set in todays settings where you jump out of a plane?

Cus thats the resemblance i see...
Guess we can only have one zombie game, one tetris and so on...

No more iterating to make something unique because you are stealing aspects of another game that just stole aspects from another game or movie.
