Alireza Khajehali, Co-Founder and Art Director at Pixel Perfect Polygons, has presented his newest scene. The artist recreated some beautiful locations from Tataouine, a city in southern Tunisia, with the help of Unreal Engine 4. The results are so amazing that we couldn’t miss this project.

Tataouine is a city in southern Tunisia. It is the capital of the Tataouine Governorate. The location is so distinct and beautiful and inspired me to try and recreate it in UE4. All rocks and pebbles share a single tileable material. I tried to improve and learn new things with this. Some of the new things I’ve developed here are: Seamless mesh to landscape blending, Dynamic dust sheets, Dynamic lightray sheets, Landscape moving dust shader, Dynamic heat haze sheets and more.

I pushed to maintain good aesthetics and simplicity while developing these features. I also took a lot of notes playing Star Wars Battlefront which helped me learn many things regarding moods, atmospheres, use of colors etc. Lastly, all content are optimized and will be released sometime soon. Thanks for reading.
