Resident Evil Village Sold Over 3 Million Units in 4 Days

More than 3 million units have been shipped worldwide, and this includes digital sales and shipment to retailers.

Capcom reports that cumulative shipments of the Resident Evil games have exceeded 100 million units since the launch of the franchise in 1996.

Resident Evil Village is the eighth major release and a sequel to Resident Evil 7 which has also been successful on the market with a cumulative shipment volume of 8.5 million units as of December 31, 2020.

As Capcom states, the new game involves more action and highly engaging gameplay. In Resident Evil Village, the players explore the new settings through the eye of Ethan Winters, who was infected with "Mold", a virally-enhanced fungus in the 2017 Dulvey incident.

Ethan Winters has to rescue his daughter, Rosemary, who is being held captive somewhere in a cold icy village. The game was built with Capcom's RE ENGINE, which creates amazingly realistic visuals and clean, high-quality audio effects.

Capcom's latest release is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. As the company states, its further plans include working on the original CG animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, which is going to be available on Netflix.
