Riot Games Makes a Huge Investment in Arcane Creators

Riot Games now holds a significant but non-controlling stake in Fortiche Production.

Riot Games, a developer studio known primarily for the League of Legends MOBA game, announced that it has made a new equity investment in Fortiche Production, a French animation studio behind Arcane and many LoL videos. According to the announcement shared by Riot, the studio now controls a holds a "significant but non-controlling stake in Fortiche." Riot's COO Brian Wright and Director of Corporate Development Brendan Mulligan have also joined Fortiche’s board of directors. Aside from these two positions, Fortiche will remain operationally independent from Riot.

"Fortiche has been an integral partner for a long time, but this agreement ensures we’ll be working closely for decades to come," comments Nicolo Laurent, CEO of Riot Games. "In working with Fortiche, we collaborate to push the boundaries of what’s possible and raise expectations for how games can be represented in media. As proud as we are of Arcane, we know the best is yet to come."

Fortiche Production, founded in 2009, employs 350 people across its offices in France and Spain. The studio has been collaborating with Riot for almost a decade, working on different trailers, videos, and cinematics. It is best known for the award-winning animated series Arcane, which has recently won nine awards at Annie Awards 2022.
