Riot Games Says There Are No Significant Differences in Pay for Women & Minorities in the Company

The company reported that women make up 21.7% of leadership in the company while underrepresented minorities – 14.7%.

League of Legends and VALORANT creator Riot Games has published its annual diversity and inclusion report stating that last year, the company saw both progress and decline in some areas.

The report shows that women make up 25.8% of the company globally and take 21.7% of the leadership roles (director-level and higher). 17.3% of the US employees are underrepresented minorities, with 14.7% having high positions.

By the underrepresented minority Riot means Black or African American, Hispanic, Latinx or Spanish origin, Native American or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and Two or More Races in the U.S.

While the number of women and minorities is generally growing, the graphs show a decline in new hires for the latter: while in 2020 underrepresented minorities made up 19.6% of the hires, last year the number went down to 17.3%. The same happened to the positions of leadership: in 2020 minorities took 16.1% of director-level jobs.

The company also addressed the issue of pay equity.

"Riot is proud to be able to report that our efforts in this area are working – there are currently no statistically significant differences in pay for women or underrepresented minorities at Riot."
