Rust Sales Reached Over 12.4 Million Units

Facepunch Studios announced that Rust has sold more than 12.4 million copies in 8 years and over a million DLC packs. The studio also shared some plans for this year and revealed some of the updates.

Facepunch Studios, the developer of Rust – a survival multiplayer video game – revealed that the game's sales surpassed 12.4 million copies. In their report, the studio also told about other achievements and shared the plans for the future.

"2021 was an exceptional year for Rust ... In 2021 Rust blew up on Twitch, we saw record-high player counts, released Voice Props DLC Pack, World revamp, missions, freight trains, underwater labs, gestures, submarines, MLRS and so much more," say the developers.

The studio also disclosed some other figures like:

  • 1,111,846 DLC packs sold;
  • new peak of 267 211 concurrent players;
  • over 400K Discord users;
  • 1.3 billion total views on Twitch;
  • 1.37 million concurrent viewers on Twitch;
  • 4.2 million hours broadcasted on Twitch;
  • over 300 million hours watched on Twitch.

Rust was launched on Steam 8 years ago and was first released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in May 2021. Facepunch Studios continue to work on improvements of Rust in 2022: they shared their plans on releasing monthly updates, announced new upcoming monuments, including the arctic ones, weapons, deployables, events, vehicles, and animals.

"We're excited to see what we can accomplish in 2022 and we thank each and every one of our players for continuing to enjoy our work," concluded the developers.
