Scanned Moss: 4 Great Megascans Materials

For this week's Megascans Digest, we decided to choose 4 awesome moss assets from Megascans Library. Take a look!

These materials help to get the most realistic look if you work on nature and landscape, for example. Since realism is one of the most important steps of the process in the industry right now, many artists use photogrammetry in their work to achieve it.

Photogrammetry is based on the use of photos of the object from different angles. If you are interested to learn more about it, read this article by Saul Clemente, where he shares his workflow of recreating photorealistic pomegranate.

But if you aren't ready to get so deeply in details of the process, or you simply don't have so much time, then you can use assets from Megascans Library that are always available.

This week we decided to look through and choose 4 the most interesting assets that were recently released.

1. Mossy Rock Face has a realistic stone texture, seems quite huge and can be used for the background landscape.

2. These two mossy rocks will work great as a close-up look since there's more dirt on the surface and more voluminous moss on them.

3. The second Mossy Rock Face is quite bold and has more stone texture than moss and can be used if you are working with more windy, dry areas.

4. And the last, little mossy rocks can be used as an alternative for the first two. It's up to you which one to use!
