Sega Establishes a New Studio in Sapporo

Sega opens a new studio in Japan which will be led by Phantasy Star Online 2 producer Takaya Segawa. The new studio will focus on the development and a combination of import and export of game hardware and software.

Sega revealed that they have established a new development base which is located in Sapporo, Japan. It will be the second company's studio in the country and it is set to meet the increasing demand for game content and "ensure a high-quality and stable development pipeline".

The new studio will be headed by the Phantasy Star Online 2 producer Takaya Segawa. In a statement on the Sega's website, Segawa said: "Under the policy of continuing to take on the challenge of creating even more innovative content and providing a new and inspiring experience to the world, we will utilize the know-how that Sega has accumulated over its long history to move from the attractive city of Sapporo. We will participate in the development of entertainment that Sega sends to the world.”

The studio is made up of locally hired staff and will focus on "development, design, debugging, sales, import and export of game hardware and software," according to the statement.

Sapporo's Sega studio is currently seeking full-time and part-time employees to work in various fields including 3D character modelers, 3D background modelers, 3D motion designers, and client programmers.
