The Ukrainian studio said it will use the fund to relocate and support its Ukrainian-based staff.
Ukrainian game developer Frogwares, best known for creating a series of Sherlock Holmes games, announced that it's received a MegaGrant from Epic Games.
The company made an announcement on its official website and via Twitter on May 16 saying that will use the fund to relocate and support its Ukrainian-based staff. The grant will also go towards supplying the team with specialized game development equipment as well as migrating data infrastructure.
"We’re proud to share that we’ve received an Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games," the studio wrote. "The funds from the Epic MegaGrant will be crucial in relocating employees to safer areas and will help those who’ve moved to remote regions of Ukraine, or to other nations in the EU, maintain their financial stability."
Frogwares thanked Epic Games for its support and expressed gratitude to the fan community for their kind words and encouragement.
The company hasn't disclosed the amount of the donation. However, usually, Epic MegaGrants range from $5000 to $500,000.
Frogwares was founded in 2020. It is headquartered in Kyiv, Ukraine and has subsidiary offices in Dublin, Ireland. The titles developed by the studio include Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, The Sinking City, and Magrunner: Dark Pulse.
Epic Games is also known for its recent initiative to fundraise for humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Last month, the company announced that it raised $144 million in two weeks. The money was transferred to several aid groups, including the UN World Food Programme, the UN Children's Fund, and the Direct Relief organization.
