Smithsonian & Adobe Announce AR-Powered Ocean Conservation Exhibit

Adobe announced they teamed up with the Smithsonian and the Hydrous to developer an augmented reality project focused on remote learning.

The goal was to create an interactive, immersive experience that would raise awareness about the threats facing ocean ecosystems. The new project is a part of a program, led by the Hydrous, called The Decade of Ocean Empathy.

To develop the project they had to assemble of team of professionals. First, the Smithsonian opened up their 3D collection (open access/CC0) and shared original samples of scanned corals for the Hydrous Chief Scientist Dr. Erika Woolsey worked with her team, including Science Advisor Celine de Jong, to design a science-based story. Then, Adobe team brought it all to life in Adobe Aero.
