Check out the first episode of the new training series about the Song of Iron game character production. In the video, you will find out about the modeling workflow in 3Ds Max and Maya. The tutorial has 3 key points:
- Keeping models as simple and clean as possible.
Low poly models can still look amazing and this will be a massive help when moving onto the next steps of texturing and rigging.
- Working in layers. The key point here is to layer different elements that are built separately and then added to the character.
- Focused detail. Put the details on the character that you the player to pay attention to.
Players are always trying to interpret what we show them and if we give too much attention to something that doesn’t matter they will miss what we want them to see.
