My motivation wasn't to knock Cem, not as a person nor as a developer. As I said, "this is cool, no doubt about that". I was sharing my personal opinion about the price-point for a material that is so expensive (performance-wise), and pointing out the fact that the same look can be achieved for cheaper (both performance and wallet-wise). I personally find it hard to budget 10s of dollars for a single material, a single effect, etc., but that's me. Other people have money pouring out of their ears and can afford to play like that. The internet is getting less friendly as far as opening dialogues like this. People should be able to have opinions and share them, debate them, without being told to hush up and move along. I hope others buy and use this asset- I'd be curious to see how it stacks up to alternatives out there (again, as I said "I love options"). As far as making my own assets and releasing articles here? It's in the works. And if somebody came along and started a dialogue about issues, opinions they had, or whatever- I would be happy to engage them!

Spintires stuck in the mud of disagreements
3 March, 2016

Developer Pavel Zagrebelnyj is said to have intentionally damaged his own game – Spintires. It appears that there is misunderstanding between the creator and the publisher – Oovee.

Spintires stuck in the mud of disagreements

Gamers have been having problems with the title for some time – they are reporting crashes and the malfunctioning pieces of code appear to have been intentionally placed – ‘timebombs’, triggered at set times or dates.

Pavel talked to Eurogamer about the financial disagreements between him and the Oovvee

They owe me a s***load of money according to our contract. But I don’t have any leverage because my judicial skills are zero. I haven’t had a meaningful communication with Oovee for many months (maybe a year).

Another problem seems to be that Pavel is not allowed to develop his game the way he sees it. Oovee denies these accusations, saying that Pavel gets all the money he is supposed to according to the contract. Stiil, the Oovee are mostly sticking to ‘no comment’.

It would be a shame if Spintires was wasted because of these disagreements. This title has been quite successful – it was a top seller on Steam and Steamspy logs over a 100,000 users over the last fortnight, from around 750,000 owners.

If you need a quick fix for Spintires, there is one here. More is yet to be discovered about the relationship between the publisher and game developer.
