Andrew Dixon has presented his custom tool for Substance Designer that will help you speed up your process. Advanced Menu puts the most relevant nodes at the top, so there’s no need to search for something useful. 

The goal of this Advanced Menu is to speed up your workflow by putting the most relevant nodes at the top and creating sub-menus for other node sets.

I’ve tried to layout the menu with the most useful categories near the top along with a few ‘most used’ nodes at the very top that are outside of a sub-menu
