Texturing Tool for Unity TerrainDecorator Goes Open-Source

The tool was developed by Emrecan Cubukcu for Kreatin Studios' Fire and Steel game.

Art Director and Developer Emrecan Cubukcu announced that TerrainDecorator, a rule-based terrain texturing tool for Unity, is now open-source. Initially developed for Kreatin Studios' Fire and Steel game, TerrainDecorator has Slope, Height, Noise, Image Mask, and Blend modes that can be used to texture the terrain. It is also possible to use the tool in real-time by tweaking its code.

According to the developer, the tool has been published due to Emrecan's inability to continue working on it due to a busy work schedule. The creator hopes that by making TerrainDecorator available to the public, savvy developers will be able to improve the tool and fix the existing bugs.

"I am publishing it because I believe that I can no longer find time and correct my mistakes due to a heavy work schedule," comments Emrecan. "It has a lot of work to do now and has known bugs! It would be nice if someone could fix it."

Amazing work ! Yet again proves how much Unity is lacking even the very basic Terrain tools.
