The Ascent: The Story of Xbox Series X Launch Title

IGN talked to Tor Frick and Arcade Berg, creative directors of Neon Giant, about the partnership with Microsoft.

The Ascent

For the Xbox Series X release, Microsoft partnered with Neon Giant, a small studio in Sweden found by industry professionals, who worked on DOOM, Wolfenstein, and Gears of War, including Tor Frick and Arcade Berg.

In the interview, Tor and Arcade discussed the team’s partnership with Microsoft and shared how did The Ascent become the launch title of the console.

Talking about the reason why they timed the launch of the game and the console, Frick explained it by the team’s ambitious nature to push the tech limits as far as they can. And, obviously, this partnership is a great opportunity to do so.

“We really do want to use cutting edge technology, cutting edge hardware, because we enjoy it. It's just who we are”.

The Ascent is an action-RPG with a cyberpunk style. In the game, players will have to find ways to survive after the collapse of the company that owned everyone in the district. The game will be released this year but the exact day is still to be announced. As for now, you can watch 12-minute next-gen gameplay.

Add the game to your wishlist on Steam.
