Hello ! I am a video game student @ILOI & I am very thankful, your speech is very motivating .
Except the dude clearly doesn't know much of anything about the 3D game pipeline. Yeah, if you're very skilled, a high poly sculpt could, certainly. But then there's retopology, UV mapping, texture baking, rigging, animating, other means of optimization once imported into the engine. Granted it wouldn't take anywhere near the production time of a AAA character (Which the High-poly sculpt took maybe 10-15 hours altogether, but the finished character took ~94 hours). And granted pokemon models aren't nearly as complex as that, but I think at least a 1-3 hours from start to finish to be a fair average expectancy of artists who know the work flow well enough. I just hate how people are so critical of artists when they clearly don't understand what goes into it.
The Dwarves is a story-based tactical RPG, set in a fantasy world with a unique crowd combat system. The devs have built a very complicated system that takes into consideration a lot of physical parameters mass, dimension and momentum of individual characters to calculate a realistic flocking behavior. This allows for fun battles with a lot of hurling, smashing and throwing. Everybody pushes and shoves, squeezes and stumbles all at the same time. It looks amazing in action. The combat itself is very similar to Warcraft 3. There’s also the bullet time function that slows the whole thing down and gives you a moment to make a critical decision.
The Dwarves is based on the novel of the international best-selling fantasy series by Markus Heitz. The story is very complex and detailed, just like you might expect from a modern RPG. There are different types of dwarves in the game, each with its own design and features. Plus there’s going to be a huge game world with tons of places to explore.
The game is being developed with the help of Unity engine. The project looks very detailed with nice lighting, luxurious character models and a intricately designed environments. KING Art Games has over 15 years of game development experience. They have released 40 games. No wonder their new title looks so cool.
Right now this game is gathering money on Kickstarter and by the looks of it, we expect this campaign to end on a high note. The release is planned for Mid-2016 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One!
