The Game Dev Unchained Expo

A brand new event from Brandon and Larry of Game Dev Unchained.

Game development tradeshows and conferences happen every year across the world on most of the major continents. These annual mega-conferences allow all the developers wealthy enough, close enough, or available enough to attend to get direct access to networking opportunities and premium educational resources provided by some of the brightest minds in our industry. So, what about everyone else?

For the last three years, Brandon and Larry of the Game Dev Unchained podcast have been relentlessly tracking down and interviewing some of the best storytellers and game industry survivalists every Tuesday morning for free! This year they tackled the Game Developers Conference to further that same mission and started offering video content for free! Now, they look to break the walls down completely and are launching 3-day live stream mega conference of their own, online for FREE!

The 2019 GduX.me streaming live on June 4th-6th from 10AM PST- 5PM PST, will feature 18+ speakers over three days with a focus on “Exploring the business of games” told by those who survived it. Larry explains “This event isn’t going to be about tutorials or workflows or technical demonstrations, the world has plenty of that already which is great. What we felt was missing right now are the stories and experiences of developers that impacted their careers positively or negatively and how they achieved personal growth or recovered. This event is all about connection and sharing wisdom, not teaching processes. We want everyone watching to learn something or feel something after hearing each speaker that can be applied to their lives or inspiring in some way. We want to empower the worldwide game developer community and create a platform that reinforces the reasons why we do what we do and share that platform with everyone for free.”

“We’ve secured 18 speakers and to name a few, we plan to kick off our event with an opening keynote presentation from the crew at Game Workers Unite. We’re going to really explore what development life is like for Phillip Tibitoski after the success of Octodad. Not looking to be left out, we have an exciting talk from Richard Lico, who spent ten plus years as an Animation Director at Bungie before going indie with Polyarc Games to work on Moss game. In addition, time friend Jeff Spoonhower from Resonator who is looking to release his game Anew: the Distant Light will be part of the talk team as well. As we draw closer to the event we will continue to share more details on our website.
