Even Top Notch Artists will be replaced by AI. You have no idea what you are talking about. If you do, only very superficial. At the end you are only an employee. You dont have any contact or experience to the High End Echelons we worked on. In 20 years, 40% of workforce working today will be out of jobs. First we will get worldwide financial crash, then AI takes over. Admin will remember my words in not distance future.

The Rookies Announces 2018 Winners
17 July, 2018
News

Sponsored by Autodesk, The Rookies today announced the 2018 winners for their international student awards.

The Rookies received 9,971 digital projects created by 2,914 students from more than 87 countries worldwide. Over 580 academic facilities encouraged their students to submit work and compete for the hotly contested School of the Year title (announces August 2018), while students battled for Rookie of the Year, Game of the Year, and Film of the Year titles. This year students also competed for Studio Internships and Academic Scholarships.

The official categories for 2018 were: Feature Animation, Digital Illustration, Visual Effects, Game Development, Virtual Reality, 3D Motion Graphics, Architectural Visualisation, Product Visualisation, Film of the Year (Visual Effects, 2D Animation, 3D Animation), and Game of the Year (Console and PC, Virtual Reality, Mobile).

“It always seems so cliche to keep saying that the quality and standard of entries keeps getting better, but it simply keeps happening.” said The Rookies co-founder Andrew McDonald.

The winners were selected by the official Judging Panel which included John Howe (famous for his J. R. R. Tolkien worlds), Pavani Boddapati (CG Supervisor, Weta Digital), Rob Coleman (Head of Animation, Animal Logic) and 60 other equally influential and respected industry veterans.  The Judges were asked to score entries based on criteria including — creative skills, technical skills, presentation, variety of skills, complexity, raw talent, and employment potential.

“People are genuinely shocked when they discover how amazing the student work is these days – even after all these years we are still constantly blown away with the quality and diversity of new talent,” said Alwyn Hunt, co-founder of The Rookies.
