NEW YORK, NY. Sketchfab announced today that its 3D asset marketplace has reached its first anniversary.
In just twelve months, the Sketchfab Store has become the #1 search result on Google for buying 3D models. The company also announced that the platform has surpassed 1 billion page views.
One year ago the Sketchfab Store launched with a modest 5,000 assets. That number has since grown 10X in twelve months. The company has also shared some data on its seller community: More than 60% have sold (roughly 2x the industry average) and over 100 sellers have passed $1,000 in net revenue.
Sketchfab Co-founder and CEO, Alban Denoyel: “We changed the game by setting a new standard for previewing 3D assets before you buy them. Whatever you are selling, be it physical goods or digital assets, presenting them in the best possible way is a key driver in the purchase decision, so we knew it was the best place to start, and the rest would follow. On the selling side, the fact we provide a 3D preview is also a game changer, as it means the seller doesn’t have to do any of the tedious writing or rendering work needed to describe a file that you are better off simply seeing. Buyers know exactly what they are paying for, and we automatically list every component of the file.”
To celebrate the anniversary, Sketchfab is offering 100% commission of all sales to its growing seller community on January 17th, as well as a 25% discount on the entire store with code ANNIVERSARY, starting January 18th and valid for a week.
