Lawson Cross shared a fun behind-the-scenes video explaining how, along with three fellow artists, he produced this cinematic ad for RDCWorld's charity basketball match, starring Mark Phillips and Duke Dennis as team captains.
Lawson took on multiple roles as co-director, storyboard artist, lead animator, and colorist for the project, while Levi served as co-director, lead compositor, sound engineer, and lead rigger. Jock handled lead cloth and simulation work, and Rory Henderson took care of the Houdini crowd simulation.
It's an impressive achievement, given the tight timeline, and it's odd to see accusations of it being AI-generated when it's clearly not. Even more disheartening is watching artists feel compelled to prove it's not AI. Take a look at more of Lawson's projects along with breakdowns below:
