This Gorgeous Human-Made Blender Artwork Was Mistaken For AI

Luckily, the creator had behind-the-scenes to prove skeptics wrong.

Unfortunately, we live in a time when AI-generated images and videos are so common and widespread, it may be challenging to discern whether what you're looking at is a surrealistic work of art produced by a human's desire to express their innate creativity this way or a hallucination of a data-scraping, art-sealing machine that can only mimic existing creations and mishmash them together into artificial abominations.

Case in point, this marvelous 3D animation unveiled recently by Alexandr Subsensus, a Digital Artist known for his psychedelic character models. Portraying a female riding an other-worldly creature across a field of wind-swept grass, the sequence evokes an ethereal feeling, making it appear like something one might see in a dream.

Although created entirely by hand using Blender, Cinema 4D, and Octane Render, the piece was accused of being AI-made, with its dreamy visuals and subtle slow-motion, which AI loves to copy, leading many viewers to believe it wasn't human-made. Luckily, Subsensus was quick on his feet to prove skeptics wrong and share several behind-the-scenes images, confirming the artwork's authenticity:
