Users will now be able to search and import Sketchfab 3D models to Effect House choosing one of nearly a million models currently available on the platform.
3D modeling platform Sketchfab announced that users of Effect House, TikTok's tool that lets people create, publish, and share augmented reality effects for TikTok, will now be able to search and import Sketchfab models on the platform.
With the help of Effect House, designers are able to use templates as well as a node editor to create AR effects to later publish and share them with TikTok's global community. This new integration will allow Effect House users to expand their opportunities for design as the platform's asset library now has almost a million free 3D models from Sketchfab.
In addition, Effect House automatically adds Creative Commons attribution to published effects, so TikTok users are able to see the model attribution in the effect's information pop-up.
The process of importing a model into Effect House from Sketchfab is pretty simple – users have to start a new project or open an existing project, then click on the Asset Library icon at the top left corner of the window, and search for a model and select it to use by pressing the Import button.
If users download a model for the first time, their web browser will open to prompt them to sign in to their Sketchfab account or create a new account if they do not already have one.
At the moment, Effect House is available for macOS 10.15+ running on Intel or M1 processors and soon will become available for Windows users as well.
