Tokyo 42: Miniature Killer from Frozen Synapse Creator

The authors of indie title Tokyo 42 describe it as “the lovechild of Syndicate and GTA”, which is totally true.

Announced a week ago (at least that’s when the trailer came out) Tokyo 42 is by far one of the most interesting titles of this year. The gist is pretty simple: you’re an assassins working in Tokyo. Your task is to discover the dark conspiracy that will affect everyone in your city. However it’s a little bit more complicated if you give this game a closer look.

Firstly the action set in a beautiful miniature open world. It’s looks like a living illustration from a children’s encyclopaedia with tiny humans, cute cars and bright colors. And the whole world is constantly moving. It looks as if you were watching an ant farm with guns. There’s an option to rotate the environment (similar to FEZ), which may create an extra layer of gameplay.

Secondly the game is very interactive. It’s a real mix of GTA and Syndicate, there’s no denying it. You can blow up stuff, kill people, take part in multiplayer battles, use various weapons and gadget. Plus there are cats. Little tiny cats.

The guys behind this work of art are from Smac Games. Paul Kilduff-Taylor (Frozen Synapse) is the publisher.

There’s no information about the release date unfortunately. We’ll have to wait and see. Can’t believe no one is talking about this game. It’s a real masterpiece of modern art.
