Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Devs on Bringing Greek Ruins to Life
"Greece is where Lara really starts to see the bigger picture."
The developers behind Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis shared another episode of their mini-doc on the creation process of the game, this time talking about how they brought Greek ruins to life.
Maciej Nowak, Lead Level Designer, explained that for them it was important to make Greece feel like a real hidden place that's slowly uncovered, and Raul Siqueira, Game Director, said that mythology was also an important element of the game's story.

Jeff Adams, Experience Director, mentioned that they created an aesthetic that blends the look of an old Greek temple and modern Byzantine elements to make the environment more believable for the players. Maria Borys-Piatkowska, Lead Narrative, also spoke about the importance of recontextualizing Greek myths so they fit into the game's lore.
Developers explained that the Greece level will have more puzzles and more things to discover than in the original game. It will have tasks players will have to finish within a certain time, making the environment more dynamic, but the sense of exploration and curiosity will also be stronger.
The studio also shared a blog post that says Greece is the place where the story deepens and the mystery comes more into focus. John Stafford, Narrative Director, said, "Greece is where Lara really starts to see the bigger picture," adding that the puzzles and missions will be more challenging.
