Alt click on a node connection automatically disconnect it from the other nodes. And there is some nodes which can be easily summoned by pressing a key and clicking at the same time. Like B+click will place a branch, and S+click a sequence.

If you're willing to compile it, Aseprite is a great option as well.

Tutorial: Using Substance in Marmoset Toolbag 3
10 April, 2018

Jaakko Saari has shared a tutorial on how to use Substance in Marmoset Toolbag 3. The guide covers the full process, so you’ll figure out the tricks in no time. The video features Aged Wood Substance which you can get on Gumroad.

Using substance instead of bitmap images it is possible to tweak texture settings on the fly without needing to re-export-import. For things like render backgrounds or floors, this is a great timesaver, but this technique can also be used to preview environmental assets or other models that are later to be used in game engines that support Substance.

Also, check the artist’s new substances on his Gumroad page.
