Ubisoft Won't Have Its Own Showcase This Summer

The company revealed it will not have its games showcase event until "later this year."

Ubisoft will not be holding its own games showcase event in the summer. Instead, it is planning to organize it towards the end of 2022, the company representatives shared in a conversation with Axios.

The French publisher almost always held its showcases in June, as part of E3, and since 2020, after E3 was canceled amid COVID-19 concerns, it has been holding its own events under the Ubisoft Forward banner. Two of these shows took place in 2020, in July and September, and in 2021 Ubisoft Forward returned with a single event in June where the company introduced the Avatar game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

In March, industry insider Tom Henderson reported that Ubisoft is planning to hold its major showcase event ahead of this year's potential E3 show, although apparently the show has been put on hold due to recent world events. Ubisoft's showcase was reportedly set to introduce several unannounced titles including The Crew 3, Assassin’s Creed Rift, an Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel, and a 2.5D Prince of Persia game.

In general, the 2022 summer season of gaming presentations promises to be quieter – among large companies, only Xbox has confirmed its events. On June 3, Sony aired the State of Play event, however, it is dedicated to partner games and PSVR2 titles. It is unclear yet when the company will present its major games that it plans to release for PS4 and PS5 in the second half of the year (if it plans any).

Summer Game Fest is also among the events that will take place this summer. It will be held from June 9 to June 12. Recently, its host Geoff Keighley revealed some of the details of the upcoming show and introduced the participants of the event.
