Wargaming Veterans Form Eschatology Entertainment to "Disrupt Hardcore Games"

The studio raised $4 million from The Games Fund and GEM Capital.

Wargaming veterans founded Eschatology Entertainment – a new game studio aiming to "disrupt hardcore games". The Cyprus-based studio is led by Fuad Kuliev, Viktor Antonov, Dmytro Kostiukevych, Boris Nikolaev, and Alexey Gerasimovich. The creators have worked on various projects before, and Antonov was an art director at Valve, Arkane Studios, ZeniMax, and other studios, so Eschatology Entertainment's future seems bright.

The studio raised $4 million from The Games Fund and GEM Capital and is creating its first title in a team of over 40 developers.

“It is a stroke of luck that brought together extremely talented developers and investors who can see potential in hardcore and narrative games,” Kuliev told GamesBeat. “We all love the genre and are capable of creating innovative AAA products. In GEM Capital and The Games Fund, we have found reliable partners and like-minded professionals, and we look forward to creating a groundbreaking gaming franchise together.”

Not a lot is known about the project yet. It will be a Souls-like first-person shooter set in the apocalyptic West, telling the story of a gunslinger "who tries to make sense of who he is as he journeys through a world enveloped in hellfire and on the verge of destruction".

"We believe our IP can stretch far beyond a single game and become a cultural phenomenon," the team confidently states on its website.
