In the updated post, The Xbox team has canceled the new pricing rules for Xbox Live Gold.

Earlier, Xbox revealed a new plan for Xbox Live Gold and added a subscription for Xbox Live Gold as an obligatory condition to play F2P games on the console. The new plan considered the $1 increase of the price for a 1-month subscription and the $5 increase for a 3-month subscription. For those, who had a membership for 6 or 12 months, the prices didn’t change. Such changes were taken negatively by the community, and Xbox canceled them, announcing it via the post on the website.

We messed up today and you were right to let us know. Connecting and playing with friends is a vital part of gaming and we failed to meet the expectations of players who count on it every day. As a result, we have decided not to change Xbox Live Gold pricing.
