Xbox Head Phil Spencer on Starfield: "Unfortunately, We Can't Localize Every Game"

Players might need to learn another language.

Starfield is a highly anticipated game among players all over the world, so it's no wonder they want to understand what's happening in their language. However, despite the many petitions going around asking for localization, Starfield may remain unattainable for some.

"Unfortunately, we can't localize every game to every market, but we're always analyzing market opportunities and getting feedback on individual games," Xbox Head Phil Spencer told the Korean Yonhap News Agency (via Windows Central). "It is difficult to answer because the discussion [about localization] has not yet ended. We will continue to have conversations and listen to feedback."

For now, Starfield supports subtitles only for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese. Based on Spencer's words, it seems possible we'll see other popular languages on the list one day. Meanwhile, it's going to be up to fans to translate the game.

Well, at least Starfield will be the least bugged out of all Bethesda games, or so the Xbox Game Studios boss says. We'll just have to wait and see.
