Toshihiro Nagoshi said he didn't want to do the same thing.

Toshihiro Nagoshi, Yakuza Executive Director and former Chief Creative Officer at Sega, shared the reason behind his decision to leave Sega. "If you keep doing the same thing, you can stay in Sega," he said and added that he wanted "to do something different" and make a new start.

Nagoshi left Sega, where he had been working for 32 years, in October 2021 and made his own studio in January 2022, with help from the internet and gaming company NetEase. He is now interested in making projects he couldn't do at Sega.
